Steve Fabian is a seasoned finance and operations executive with over 25 years of experience in the real estate sector. He began his career at KPMG, where he spent six years in external assurance, specializing in auditing real estate clients. He then transitioned to Developers Diversified Realty, serving as Regional Controller overseeing all accounting functions for a retail portfolio of over 200 properties.

Since 2007, Steve has served as Senior Vice President at AvalonBay Communities, where he leads the REIT’s two Customer Care Centers and manages shared services operations across Virginia Beach, VA, and San Antonio, TX. AvalonBay established one of the first centralized service centers in the multifamily industry, and Steve has been critical in scaling and advancing those operations to enhance customer service to residents at a lower operating cost. His responsibilities include customer service, loss mitigation, centralized renewals, property accounting, accounts payable, and other strategic initiatives related to the company’s centralization efforts.  

Steve holds degrees in Accounting and Business from North Carolina State University and is a Certified Public Accountant.
